The BI-200SM goniometer system offers unbeatable possibilities to researchers, who desire or require modification of the instrument to fit their special needs. The ease of customization is inherent in the design of the BI-200SM, as the most demanding and challenging research tasks were in focus during the creation of this unique system.
The most common expansion of the standard BI-200SM goniometer is incorporation of multiple lasers operating at different wavelengths. The multiple laser upgrade kit allows easy set-up up of two or three lasers sharing the same zero alignment on a BI-200SM goniometer. Each installed laser can be selected simply by flipping a mirror assembly. This kit hugely extends the range of applications that can be investigated using a BI-200SM goniometer system.
The open architecture design of the BI-200SM goniometer system enables experimental set-ups not possible with an enclosed light scattering system. Through integration of specialist third party components and instruments the BI-200SM has been used to undertake ground-breaking research in areas including the behavior of liquid crystals in presence of an electric field, characterization of cross linked sulphonated high-performance polymers and microrheological investigation of samples under different kinds of influence fields.
Based on a special turntable with precision ball bearings and stepping motor, the Bl-200SM's modular, automated design and quality construction guarantee precise measurements due to the wobble-free movement of the detector. As you would expect from a research grade system the BI-200SM can measure light scattering over a wide angular range (8° to 155° with 25 mm cells) and offers fine adjustment of measurement angles to 0.01° directly using a large, fine-control knob or PC-driven Motor control. Fine-screw vertical adjustment makes center of rotation measurement easier when aligning cells. Precise repeatable data is ensured by automated heating and cooling of the sample cell using and standard external recirculating system.
