Overview

Walk-Away Design

An AutoCOL, which includes an integrated plate feeder, colony counter, and software based on Synbiosis’ tried and trusted ProtoCOL technology, can automatically remove plate lids and count colonies on up to one hundred 90 mm plates in less than an hour.

Simple Software

Users connect to AutoCOL by USB using easy touch-screen software. There, they can set up automatic plate readings and optimize batch design for each plate type. They can also configure user access levels and pass/fail limitations, which allow AutoCOL to monitor and stack all pass/fail plates in precise locations in the plate feeder.

Accurate Counts

Using an AutoCOL, users can obtain accurate and repeatable counts by capturing full-color images of all forms of microbial colonies using a sensitive camera and special three-color lighting.

Fully Traceable

Users can automatically export images or numerical results from an AutoCOL into a variety of formats (XLS, PDF, CSV) or to the LIMS. AutoCOLs are compatible with 1D barcode readers. This allows users to be confident that the data is completely compliant with 21 CFR Part 11 and has a thorough audit trail.

Flexible Applications

In highly regulated pharmaceutical and contract research microbiology facilities, AutoCOL is being tested for a variety of microbial colony counting applications. It is ideal for high-throughput colony counting. These applications include:

  • Microbial environmental monitoring
  • Microbial limits testing
  • Efficacy testing
