Overview
Alginate that has been methacrylated and lyophilized is called PhotoAlginate®. It produces 3D hydrogels that can be made in a variety of concentrations and crosslinked with calcium or light to produce different levels of gel stiffness. Other photocrosslinkable ECMs can be combined with PhotoAlginate®.
PhotoAlginate®, a methacrylated alginate from Advanced BioMatrix, is available for use in photocrosslinkable hydrogels or for blending with other photocrosslinkable hydrogels (such as PhotoGel, PhotoCol, or PhotoHA).
When prepared at different concentrations and photocrosslinked to produce different gel stiffnesses, PhotoAlginate® can create 3D gels. Its ability to crosslink with calcium makes PhotoAlginate® special. Users can purchase this item separately (200 mg of lyophilized, sterile powder) or in a kit with a photoinitiator for photocrosslinking.
