Overview
PhotoCol® is 100 mg of lyophilized methacrylated Type I collagen. PhotoCol® offers native-like 3D collagen gels having special attributes to be made at several concentrations and photocrosslinked (needs a photoinitiator) to offer gel stiffness.
Advanced BioMatrix provides PhotoCol®, a purified methacrylated Type I bovine collagen kit. PhotoCol® offers native-like 3D collagen gels with special attributes to be made at several concentrations and crosslinked to offer various gel stiffness.
PhotoCol® kits comprise purified methacrylated Type I bovine collagen as the core component with other support reagents present in the kit. This PhotoCol® product contains methacrylated collagen alone. Please select one of the “Kits” to obtain the whole photocrosslinking kit. Each kit includes the first three rows shown below, as well as the photoinitiator of choice.

The methacrylated Type I collagen has been generated from telo-peptide intact bovine collagen where the collagen has been altered by reacting the free amines, mainly the ε-amines groups of the lysine remnants as well as the a-amines groups on the N-termini. Almost, >20% of the total lysine residues of the collagen molecule have been methacrylated. The extraction of collagen has been done from bovine hide and comprises a high monomer content.
