Overview

The PhotoGel® is a sterile, lyophilized, high degree of methacrylation (~95%) methacrylated gelatin. PhotoGel® offers 3D hydrogels with the special attributes to be made at several concentrations and photocrosslinked (needs a photoinitiator) to offer different gel stiffness.

Advanced BioMatrix provides PhotoGel®, a purified and lyophilized methacrylated gelatin for photocrosslinkable hydrogels. PhotoGel® offers 3D tunable gels with the special attributes to be made at several concentrations and crosslinked to offer different gel stiffness.

The PhotoGel® comprises purified methacrylated porcine gelatin (1 gram). The gelatin is type A 300 bloom. The separate product just contains the methacrylated gelatin. The kits are available with the chosen photoinitiator (separate, as a powder).

PhotoGel® has been produced from methacrylated gelatin where the gelatin has been altered by reacting the free amines, mainly the ε-amines groups of the lysine residues as well as the a-amines groups present on the N-termini. Over 75% of the complete lysine residues of the gelatin molecule have been methacrylated.

The photoinitiator comprises Irgacure 2959 to be developed in methanol (methanol not included) enabling UV crosslinking of the collagen measuring at 365 nm.
