Overview
As a collagen standard, PureCol®-S is a solution of type I bovine atelocollagen at a concentration of 3 mg/ml. With >2000 publications citing it, PureCol®-S is recognized as the gold standard among collagen products for consistency, reproducibility, and purity (>99.9% collagen content).
When ultra-pure collagen is required for an assay, PureCol®-S collagen is offered as a standard. About 97% of the collagen in the PureCol®-S collagen standard is Type I collagen, and the remaining 2% is Type III collagen. According to the results of gel permeation chromatography, it has a high monomer content.
This product is given out at a concentration of about 3 mg/ml. By using the Biuret protein determination assay, the concentration is verified. The concentration for each specific lot is supplied with a Certificate of Analysis that is available with the purchase of each product. Since atelo-collagen in PureCol®-S is soluble in 0.01 N HCI, the pH is close to 2.0.
PureCol®-S is the best collagen standard to use in controlled testing and assay procedures. PureCol®-S is provided as a ready-to-use solution and has undergone sterile filtration.
